At Meeple Mountain, we love board games and tabletop games of all kinds. Since our founding in 2015 we have published over 1,400 board game reviews in both written and video form. We have a team of talented writers and experienced gamers with interests across all types of board games and tabletop games. From abstract<\/a> games to tabletop RPGs<\/a>, family games<\/a> to war games<\/a>, we have a team member here who understands and is passionate about the niche your game falls into. Each incoming review request is matched with a team member who is interested in that style of game. This means your game isn\u2019t just handed off to the next person in line, but is hand-picked by someone interested in what your game has to offer..<\/p>\n

A Meeple Mountain review will generally include some combination of an overview of the game and rules, and the author\u2019s own thoughts on the game. Pictures or video of the game that you sent us are always included in the review, and in the case of prototypes we are clear in our review that the components are not final.<\/p>\n

In addition to our review services we also offer a complimentary listing for crowdfunding campaigns in our Crowdfunding Roundup<\/a><\/strong>. This service is free to publishers and allows your campaign to have exposure to our monthly readership of almost 90,000 viewers. Further, games we review on Meeple Mountain will be displayed with special highlighting and include direct links to our review.<\/div>\n

Written Reviews<\/b><\/h2>\n

Our writing team includes multiple talented authors with years of experience writing for the web. We love writing reviews because it really allows for our team members to get into the nitty-gritty of a game. This can include details such as replayability, optimal player counts, accessibility, artwork, component quality, and comparisons to other similar games. All of our written reviews go through a thorough collaborative editing process to make sure important details aren\u2019t missed or left out and that they meet Our Values and Standards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Video Reviews<\/b><\/h2>\n

Since renewing our focus on our YouTube channel<\/a> in 2019 we\u2019ve published over 500 reviews. This type of content can showcase a game\u2019s packaging, art, and unique features in ways that a written review can\u2019t. Our team of video reviewers is smaller than our writing team, so it may be harder to find the perfect match for your game.<\/p>\n

  1. Your game isn\u2019t simply assigned to a writer, but is picked by someone interested in covering it.<\/li>\n
  2. We will play your game multiple times, ideally with different player counts.<\/li>\n
  3. All articles, reviews, lists, and other written content are peer-reviewed by experienced members of our writing team before being published.<\/li>\n
  4. Our reviews will be family friendly.<\/li>\n
  5. We will be honest about our feelings for your game. If we think there are negative aspects to your game we will point them out tactfully and considerately.\n

    2. We will share our review of your game on social media which might include BoardGameGeek<\/a>, Twitter<\/a>, Facebook<\/a>, or Instagram<\/a>.<\/li>\n
    3. We do not allow advance access to review content, but at your request we will be happy to provide pull quotes for crowdfunding campaigns or your website.<\/li>\n
    4. We do not make edits or otherwise change a previously published review except in the case of rules errata or inaccurate component specifications.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      What We Expect from You<\/b><\/h2>\n

      1. Your game has a dedicated website, standalone page on your website, or a BoardGameGeek page.\n

        1. Our board game media kit article<\/a> has recommendations for what to include on this page.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
        2. You contact us 6-10 weeks before you want a review published. Rush requests will still be considered, however, we can\u2019t guarantee publication by a certain date.<\/li>\n
        3. A complete copy of the game to keep.<\/b> In the case of prototype or Kickstarter games a completed production copy is expected.\n

          1. We understand that advance prototypes are expensive and will be happy to forward prototype copies on to other reviewers, provided a mailing label is provided, or reimbursement is given.<\/li>\n
          2. We will not review early stage prototypes<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
          3. Promotion of our review on the social media platforms of your choice and link to our review from your website or Kickstarter page.<\/li>\n
          4. Respect our time. We spend many hours learning and playing your game, reviewing it, and discussing it online.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Interviews<\/b><\/h2>\n

            If you\u2019re a member of the board game industry and you\u2019d like to share a story or some expertise, we may be interested in interviewing you. We love to sit down with designers, artists, publishers, and other members of the board game industry to discuss their creative process, lessons learned, and upcoming projects. For interviews, we ask only two things:<\/p>\n

            1. Promote our review on the social media platforms of your choice and link to our review from your website<\/li>\n
            2. Respect our time. We spend many hours doing research, writing questions, typing up notes, getting images, promotion, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
